I was shocked when I saw this YouTube video a few years ago...A girl walks around NYC wearing NO BOTTOMS except for paint. The paint job looks just like leggings...very weird!
What are these tight stretchy pants I see women wearing at stores? Spanx? I was at a health food store and four women in those within eyesight. It's been around for years, but this trend is not fading. Easy to see the shape of your legs and butt. I'm telling you, this is quite a nice trend. I'm not complaining. But what's going on? Why do you like them?
Not Spanx, that is an undergarment like a girdle. You mean leggings. They look ok on a slim figure. Not so good on fat people. We like them because they’re comfortable. I only wear them with tops that cover the bum.
I love wearing leggings, jeggings, and skinny jeans, and I'll be 59 soon. I just bought three new pairs of skinny jeans (one distressed). They make me feel young and trendy. It's my reward for staying thin, watching my weight and exercising as hard as I do.
You'll never catch me dead in a pair of elastic waisted "mom jeans".
Really? Where do you live or what is your idea of very attractive?
lol...I am glad you feel that way though. I am a woman and probably way to critical. But more times than not, the women I see wearing these clothes are usually overweight and can't really fit normal pants.
They make normal pants in some really big sizes, so I don't think it's that. Comfort, maybe? Price?
Just to clarify my earlier post. I am all for women wearing what they want. We shouldn't have to justify or decision to anybody. It's just my own insecurities that tells me unless I'm thin or have a banging fitness body, I would never wear leggings with a short shirt. I have 39 inch hips. So it's a no for me.
The problem with wearing the tight pants/skinny jeans is they are very unforgiving.
They can emphasize knock-knees (most women are knock-kneed, it's the way we're built); and unless one has a flat tummy and tight toosh, the wearer ends up looking like Humpty Dumpty.
I love leggings. Aside from I just like the way they look (I’m not going to complain about women in tight clothing) they can be quite fashionable if done right. My wife is a plus size woman and looks incredible in leggings.
I'm not a real fan of leggings/jeggings either (yeah--I'll admit it--I'm overweight) except maybe for the gym. I prefer straight leg jeans because at 5'1" with thunder thighs I actually look heavier with flared/bootcut jeans.
HOWEVER....since relocating from the Northeast to Florida I find jeans too heavy and uncomfortable to wear in high heat/humidity. It appears that manufacturers that cater to senior women want to dress them in 100% polyester--and that will never do here. So I've conceded that leggings and knit capris might be the most comfortable so I pair them with longer oversize Ts.
