I'm just THRILLED we don't have those FUGLY velour track suits that seniors wore to the gym when I was in my 30s!
But they were so comfortable! 70 year old women would look awful with the skin tight stretch capris and the bra-type exercise outfits I see on younger people at the gym.

Buy a larger size and wear a long top (which most of them are anyway). Non-issue.
I see leggings on almost every woman these days but not on older women. Would it look "funny" to see a 65+ woman wearing skirted black leggings for race walking in a park?
If a 65 year-old woman had been race-walking regularly, chances are good she would have legs that are pleasing for people to see in leggings.
It’s the skirt part that prevents the legging look from being obnoxious on some women. A very modest and appropriate look for an active senior, actually. Can you imagine leggings alone over Depends undergarments? Keep it classy
Some 65 year olds, can look good in leggings.......some thirty year olds......not so much. If you are working at looking good, then you should wear, what makes you feel good too.
I have a very long torso, and even "longer" tops aren't long enough. I like skirted leggings because I don't have to constantly tug a top down over my bubble butt.
That's a good point - I have a few shirts that I really like but are just a couple of inches shorter than I'd prefer and might work better with a skirted legging.
Off to go shopping....
