What are your thoughts on women who dye their hair crazy colors, like seems to be a fad right now?
I was in the store the other day and this girl was helping me and I got the opinion she was into me, but she had this horrid dyed pink hair. I see women with: red, purple, blue hair...you name it.
To me it's a red flag, that they're expressing that they're "Mod cut.", and it's really a stomach-churning "style" to me.
I can't have it.
Yay or nay?

Reason: Political.
You can tell about someone's political views by the color of their hair? I'm not sure that's the best strategy as it might make you seem like a bigot who judges and generalizes based on superficialities. Plenty of conservative Christian girls play with their hair and makeup too. I see it as more an indicator of youth than politics.
I have some notion of the time it requires to maintain dye like that. She may prefer to spend significant time on her appearance, good on her, but too much bother for me to be bothered with personally. Reds especially fade fast and it's work to keep them bright.
Sometimes, especially with those who change their color a lot, it seems damaging to the hair. I prefer, personally, to have healthy hair as best as I can. But I do hear that the chemistry involved and the conditioners and such have come a long way.
I wonder if she does this at home in the bathtub, and if she is able to do a decent job of cleaning it up or if she leaves her bathroom a mess like my son did that one time he decided to dye his hair...
But then if one is feeling strongly negative feelings about the expression that another person is putting out there, then they're likely doing both a favor by avoiding rather than pursuing that, no? I mean, I certainly would not reciprocate any efforts to flirt by some dude with a MAGA hat, in a bar. We would not be well suited to one another at all. I don't have to hate him for that to be true, nor describe it as stomach churning disgust. Sheesh. Plenty of people in this world who are, or aren't, good candidates for attempts at romantic connection. So?
I rather like it on young people because it’s a healthy form of self expression. Older women can carry off a good streak of color like one would wear a bright scarf or jewelry. Nothing wrong with that.
Heck, women have been dying their hair since Egyptian times. No one bats an eye at 1950’s Marilyn Monroe and her platinum locks. We’re just used to it.
So, having pink, blue, green, orange hair is common enough to be mainstream now.
If the OP doesn’t want to date someone like that, he shouldn’t. Otherwise, live and let live.
I like it, too. I always respect that they have a lot more confidence than I do. I've done a violet rinse on my hair, which doesn't show too much because most of my hair is dark brown, but it did turn my greys lavender, which I liked.
For the OP, if you don't like that style, then you know pretty quickly which women aren't your type.
My mom had "koolaid" hair in her early 70s (she's now 79). We couldn't go anywhere without people of all ages, male and female, walking over to tell her how great her hair looked. And it did. But my mom is certainly not "woke."
A woman on my team at work (in a corporate environment) has pink, purple, platinum blonde and her natural brunette in her hair. It looks fantastic. She's a card-carrying Mod cut. supporter.
Considering how some people go around looking these days, considering how politically divided we are as a country, and considering how difficult it is to find a stable, compatible partner regardless of hair (or no hair), I think "crazy" hair colors are the least of our problems. Seriously.
