What is the best method to get acclimatizedto the weather in Florida?

I thought when I moved down there, I would take walks, at least a little bit everyday.

Could some of you share some things you did, to help you get acclimatized to the weather?

Thanks

there is no way i dont think...-
i have lived in the deep south most all my life and i still pour sweat whenever i go out on a humid hot day.
i suppose that the more you are in the weather tho a person would get most used to it.. id sure like to know how- thats a good question...i am tired of limp hair.

The summers are rough but the winters make up for it. As far as walks go, either do it early in the am or walk in the malls. Our mall opens an hour before business for this very reason.

Just stay inside and turn the air conditioner on. That's how the majority of residents "get used" to the weather. If you do not believe that just see how many of them are desperate on the days when the power is off.

I never got used to it. I stayed inside March through November most years. I hate Florida weather. Love the sun but hate the heat.

Join a gym or like verobeach said walk at the mall.

Get a dog. Then you have to walk.

You never get used to the heat and humidity though. You can put up with it until September, but you hate it in October and November. Air conditioning is your friend.

Do you have many bike riders? If so, do they quit riding around the Oct Nov time, for same reason, just too hot then to be out riding?

Thanks for all the replys

I've been here for 5 years and the heat and humidity doesn't really bother me. I don't like to be cold! I see bikers all year round.

I never had to "get used to the weather" because I was born here (Bradenton). I would suggest walking/biking early in the morning and in the late afternoon, when it's a bit cooler.

If you have a pool you could also go for a swim. Then you get exercise without being so hot.

Well I have been in Florida many times but I haven't spent a full summer in Florida. I am anticpating walking late in the evenings when the sun goes down.
