St Augustine and Ponte Vedra Beach would be my recommendation. History/attractions, pretty beaches, nice restaurants/shops and not overcrowded like many areas.

If your going to St. Augustine before the end of January, check out the Nights of Lights downtown. They decorate a lot of the buildings and trees with holiday lights. Also, they have horse and buggy rides and trolley tours. Would also recommend a drive over to St. Augustine Beach, then down Route A1A to Marineland where they have a dolphin aquarium and shows.
