Hello all,

I'm new to City Data. I'm thinking about moving to somewhere in SE FL. I'd be coming down alone, with a pension, and looking to rent a one bedroom for about 900-950 a month. I was originally interested in Hollywood or Ft Lauderdale, but it looks like I am priced out of any nice developments in good parts of those cities.

I stopped by Coconut Creek on a recent trip, had dinner at the Promenade, and liked the area. I know there is also a casino there

I have also seen Palm Beach Gardens, and like that area.

I am mostly interested in a safe, clean area that is not too far (20 min or so) from the beach.

I am also interested in activities for young retirees/middle aged people. I am 53.

I might be interested in a little part time job, but I don't need to make any big bucks.

I would really like something like the Hollywood area, with the nightlife, but as I said, it looks like in the price range I'm interested in, it would be a marginal area and probably an older building.

Any insights into Hollywood, Ft L, Coconut Creek, PBG, or Coral Springs is appreciated.

I want a building with a pool, and a gym would be nice too

I don't really need much info on where the beaches are. What I am looking for is where would a middle aged, single guy be happy and not get bored too easily.
