Northern Virginia is full of transplants. People come here for work. Snowbirds and retirees go to the sun belt to avoid winter. That is part of the fabric of each place. What would the economy of Florida be if there were no snow birds, retirees or vacationers? Could the state survive on orange trees (now with citrus greening) and the spring break crowd?

Lighten up, at least you all are higher regarded than Alabama and Mississippi.

Me thinks you must be hallucinating (like some others who bark daily against FL here). I prefer summers, as humid and hot as they can be. Actually I am waiting for the weather to become warmer so i can get in the water. There's many people who are active with the sea (boating, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing etc..), which is why they moved to FL. All those are better from April to Oct.

And yes FL is a habitat mecca (only other place that tops it in the US is HI).

Would you rather live in a concrete jungle instead? There you don't count the bugs, you count the gazillion bubble gums on the sidewalks. Try any major American city for that.

Actually the Gulf of Mexico has more marine biodiversity than HI or CA (check the overview/middle chart below).
