How will the coming recession effect florida?
Will crime increase?
Will home prices continue to drop?

Crime is already the WORST it has EVER been in Florida. It has gone up due to the rude people!
But really, of course home prices are going to drop. And like everywhere else, crime is going to skyrocket. It already has here and nationwide. I bet traffic is going to start thinning out as well as the oil prices just keep on going up up up. In essence, were screwed.

Even if I loose my job, I am still looking forward to the recession/depression. This country needs a quality-of-life catharsis. We need to make due with less.
Hummers, Flat-screens, chain restaurants, Wal Mart, HELOC'd homes... is this really how we want to live?

Unfortunately, that will only be temporary. It's the American condition that desires and wants never stop expanding, exceeding one's grasp

sorry to hear that--actually I don't have problems, unless you consider easily sunburnable feet with the same complexion as Gwyneth Paltrow's pasty white face a problem.

crime will keep going up without a doubt. I don't see any specific action taken from the city and/or law enforcement, and I am positive WE WILL NOT SEE ANY ACTION. We just don't have the right people for it. Not in the authorities nor in the force.
I was watching the other day an old episode of COPS taped in Miami. The officer said "I'm gonna stop that car cause he didn't use his turn signal" Well, comes out the guy didn't have a license, he was on probation. He got scared, he tried to run, the officer chased him, cuffed him, and straight to where he belongs. Jail.
Another officer said "we are going to stop that car that is jumping from lanes and cutting off traffic" His aproach to the driver was "are you creating your own lanes now??" the guy was nervous and scared; comes out they had drugs in the car and a weapon. Of course, both went straight to jail.
That is the type of police we don't have anymore. In Miami people cross with red light in every single damn crossing, they jump from lane to lane without turn signals, they cut off traffic, they use merge lanes as extra lanes, is disgusting; and in those little criminals is where you find the big criminals that at the end make the crime rates in the city. I see this every day in front of police cars and police officers doing the same. We just don't have anymore those disciplined perfectionist detail oriented elements in the force. I guess they all retired and all were able to get the hell out of here.
It is sad, but I don't see in any way crime going down. Unless criminals decide to step down.
