They have used this pandemic as an opportunity to aggrandize their power, and to force their thinking upon all of us since the issue arose nearly a year ago. The cost, not only to those participating in the economy directly, but to the nation's financial health, has been astronomical -- won't be fully calculable for many months more, and might eventually translate to a burst of inflation unseen in forty years, if the powers-that-be decide to monetize the debt by running the printing press.

That's too deep. If you want to get into conspiracies, I think the long-time germaphobes had a secret society this whole time and they staged an "kill the germs" insurrection and got their way. They were the ones wiping down their groceries in May and putting library books in the microwave.

If you are 70+ or have pre-existing conditions, keep you guard fully up...protect yourselves.

If you are younger, and healthy, go about your daily routine, but please try to cover your mouth when coughing/sneezing, and try to stay 6 feet away from older people, especially those wearing masks.

If you get sick, stay home.

CDC survival rates...have been unchanged in months. The policies have always been made with those rates in mind. If you didn't know that - look in the mirror.

Meantime - regarding Florida - gloating ground rules - COVID deaths take about 18 days after infection...and most young people won't be in that number. So - the young people get it first - distribute it to the "older" folks over the next couple of weeks - THEN 18 days later, some will die.

So...no conclusion can be reached about the effects for about 40 days. If there is no noticeable trend of "death" in the next month or so - then all the precautions were for nothing. But if it rises significantly - you can't then declare that the data is falsified "to make me put my mask back on!" Nope. Can't have it both ways. Agree to trust the data - if it stays the same it's valid...and if goes up, it's valid.

This is the (maybe tragic) experiment we've all been waiting for. A sad (maybe) side effect are the tourists bringing it back. My neighbors are headed to FL for a month right now - will they bring it back to me? We'll find out.

Infection data? Eh - too many variables. Will more people get tested now? Fewer? The actual number of (reported) infections is laughably incorrect, and will remain so - the deaths are a better indicator of how many were actually sick.

If anything DeSantis was too strict back in April. It was silly keeping barbers shutdown like that and restaurants too and such.

FL was actually stricter than others states. Now the reported cases are way down. After Nov 4th I guess the virus will just go away.

What a joke this whole thing was.

Do you think it will clear up in Brazil on November 4th too? India? Mexico?

Meantime - Canada already has few infections and few deaths - but they remain heavily restricted, probably through 2020.

Tying all your COVID dreams to Nov. 4th is to ignore the other 6.7BN people on the planet. They do not care about our election. At all.

It is more so the fact that most mainstream American media outlets have heavily politized the pandemic and have created a non-stop stream of highly polarizing and sensationalized news stories that are all agenda driven. Because of this, the election will in fact have a significant impact on the pandemic here in America and how it is viewed within our country.

With 200,000 deaths in America due to "covid19" you would think people were dropping dead on the streets but nope, in USA we have large protesters, rioters; screaming in outdoor diners faces with their masks down. Large parties are being thrown with maskless police shutting them down. Rallies taken place. People are out and about.

So what exactly do you know is happening in India? Mexico? Here's some perspective from an Indian about "covid19" I found on reddit.

We are already living in that "utopia" in every major city of India. Maybe if YOU actually stepped outside your home, you would realise that nobody else cares this much because the drawbacks of spending any more time cowering inside are far, far more than whatever covid will do to a country like India. Hawkers, shopkeepers, waiters, etc etc are all getting a livelihood now only because commerce is back in full. Sure, you can say the government should be paying them - but NOW who's living in a utopia?

Accept it - the social end of the pandemic is here in India, with the festival season.

Malls, restaurants, bars and open air markets are all literally packed in Kolkata, as in, "unable to find parking spaces" packed, according to newspapers and personal experience.

If we don't hit the moon in the next few weeks, I cannot think of any explanation except for herd immunity.
Quote:
I don't know if I agree. I've thought **** would start blowing up here for weeks and months, when I saw that nobody was taking masks particularly seriously even inside buses. Or when I saw people go ape**** for Mahalaya shopping. Still the numbers don't seem to be increasing and sure, maybe they're manipulated to hell and back, but hospitals aren't getting more full either, and there's only so much they can be manipulated.
Hmm, sounds familiar?

With anti-lockdown protests that happened in Berlin(no increase in covid19 after), in London(happened last week), it seems the whole world is waking up to this HOAX. When you count motorcycle crashes in Florida as "covid19 death" of course you'll add up to a large number like 200,000.

The only ones who want to keep this pandemic going are the ones that stay home and are on the internet all day keeping the fearmongering going on the internet(good job doing the media's job, hope you get paid). Anyone that has been outside knows the real deal and already has their eyebrows raised at the HOAX of a pandemic.

The short-term economy is worth thousands of dead Americans is what DeSantis is thinking. The problem is we are a tourism based economy for the most part, so if we don't make Florida a "safe" destination, the tourists for the most part will stay away.
