Hey guys,

I have read plenty of reviews on different areas of Florida. I still can't really find which area may be best for me. A friend and I are hoping to move to Florida within the next two months. We are in our mid 20's. We are taking a trip in two weeks to check out different areas. We both have enough money to live there for a while without working. We do plan on getting jobs but it's not a major factor in our decision where to live. We are looking to get an apartment or condo around $800-$1000 a month. Here is the list of things that we are looking for.

1. Near the beach
2. Night life (bars/clubs)
3. Younger people (18-30)
4. Mall/Places to shop
5. Jobs
6. Travel destination

Could you please advise me as to what cities could provide some of these. We have already took a week off work so we will have nine days to check out different cities. We are hoping to check out three or so cities so see what best fits us.

Miami sounds like a good fit. You might like West Palm Beach as well.

You'd be crazy to not choose miami although your choice of rent looks a bit on the low side.

Destin/Ft. Walton in the Panhandle ... especially if you want a safer place to live.

Miami, specifically South Beach. I don't know about rent prices there.

Thanks for the input guys. Miami seems like it would be too expensive for us. We want to live comfortably and not have to spend all the money we have saved up. Again, the price range for that apartments is a good budget for us at this time. Please list other areas.. we are hoping to visit two or three places while we are down there.

How is 800 to a 1000 on the down side lol.. I live in FL in a very nice area and pay much lower than 800. You want young people and nightlife obviously miami but i wouldn't live there. I'd say Ft Lauderdale could be a good fit just outside of Miami and that rent should be fine.

St. Petersburg might be worth considering. The problem would be the jobs part.
