If it were only that easy! He's almost 78 years old, has heart disease, moderate Alzheimers, and finds any food other than white breads and red meats to be his mortal enemy.
I figure he's already in overtime. If he want's to ruin a perfectly good steak, that's the least of our concerns.
you are right, let him enjoy his food and whatever happens happens. There comes a time when doing what you enjoy in life is more important than how many more years you will live. So there is sugar in Katsup, I don't even like the stuff, but if he wants it, he should has the choice.

Reminds me of my grand parents having an argument over grand Dad drinking beer,Grand Ma was reading him the riot act one day about his beer drinking and was saying how it was going to kill him , he was 95 at the time of the argument, she was right ,it finally killed him at the age of 102.
Wonder how much longer he would have lived had he not drank beer all his life.
And i remember him putting HP sauce on just about every meat product he ate.
Beer? HP sauce? 102 years old? you dont suppose.....nah couldnt be
I like my steak seasoned with garlic, salt, a dash of cayenne pepper, and a pat of butter on top after it's cooked. I eat it like this most of the time.
Once in a while, when I want to kick up the flavor of the meat to a higher realm, I add a sauce. A great sauce is an excellent complement to steak. The key is not to overdo it on the sauce--too much and the taste of the meat is drowned out. Just a small amount per mouthful of steak is best.
Some of my favorite sauces are Brandy Mushroom; Burgundy Mushroom; Bearnaise; Chimichurri; Belgian Beer & Onion; and Sherry Vinegar.
Bottled steak sauces ruin the meat, as far as I'm concerned.
I put sauce on my steak when I'm the one to cook it. This is because:
A) I only buy it when it's on sale and the really nice cuts are pretty much never on sale.
B) I'm not seasoned enough (get it?) to cook it exactly how I like it every time.
If I'm going to spend big bucks on an excellent cut, I'm going to let the experts cook it for me so I don't mess it up. THAT'S when there's no bottle of sauce anywhere on the table. Now I'm hungry . . .
It depends. If I can take the time to rub down a steak beforehand with olive oil and a good rub like Montreal Steak seasoning, then no. But if I'm at a restaurant and they aren't known for really preparing the best steaks, then Heinz 57 is my sauce of choice.
I see some various english chutneys at the better grocery stores and am tempted but theyre kind of expensive and I don't eat steak very often.
What's everybodys favorite cut of beef? Mine is the delmonico although a ribeye is good for the grill. My beef of choice is prime rib. For that all you need is grated horseradish and a little au jus.
If its a cheap cut or overdone maybe. No way if I do it myself.
