I went to Ruby Tuesdays once with a friend, and had a well cooked steak and a baked potato with sour cream.

Within 5-6 hours, I had the worst case of food poisoning of my life. I was in horrible shape. It eventually stopped within 2 days and thank God, I didn't suffer from worse.

After that, it took several months to a year b/f I could either eat a steak or sour cream (Im strongly suspicious it was the sour cream b/c it's known to cause Staph aureus food poisoning).... So painful!

Its just a fact as doctors say that if you eat out enough where you can not control things your going to get sick on food even if not full blown food poisoning. One of our local stations report all restaurants inspections every week telling the score and what was found.

Many years ago I got sick off of a home-made macaroni salad. Still cannot eat it.

Stomach viruses (not flu), ingesting e coli, and foodborne illnesses are three different things. They do all have similar results, however. Hope you feel better soon.

The foods that I ate the other day that made my stomach feel queasy were divinity and a honey bread. Even if they are not the culprits, I can never eat them again!
I got a foodborne illness from food at a party, along with half the other guests. Mine popped up about 18 hours after the party, and after I'd eaten a hamburger for dinner. The hamburger didn't cause the illness, but it was quite awhile before I could eat one again.

OP most likely had the norovirus if it only lasted 24hrs. People always think they have food poisoning after a stomach virus.

I had Salmonellosis for an entire week - that will make you react to improperly cooked chicken with a definite sense of urgency. I won't even go into the gory details.

If it makes me puke, I won't eat it again until I've forgotten what it was. If it was something memorable, like an odd flavor of potato chip, I will probably never eat it again.

I think it was just coincidence but I got sick just after eating a peanut butter sandwich and grape juice.

I've had peanut butter sandwiches since then. I've had grape juice since then.

But never ever have I had them together since then.

are you in Houston?? Did someone take over for Marvin Zindler??

I have not had food poisoning, I don't think.... but I did get sick with a stomach virus one night after I had eaten duck stuffed with apples and oranges and glazed with a sauce consisting of Heinz 57, orange juice and honey..... The meal had NOT a thing to do with my violently unhappy stomach, but to this day, over 30 years later, I can NOT eat any kind of meat with anything sweet on it or accompanying it....
