We still have several of the old jelly-jar glasses that used to be filled with various types of jelly flavors - mainly grape for me. Remember those? Some were plain, but others had various cartoon characters on them or popular movie characters - like Star Wars characters, Disney characters, Looney Tunes, etc.
What happened to them? I don't see them on the grocery shelves any more.
I used to love drinking juice from my Pooh Bear jelly glass in the morning, and those glasses were just the right size for my child's morning milk.
Anyone still seeing these on store shelves? What favorite jelly-jar glasses do you still have?
I still have plenty and am guilty of buying something just for the jar it comes in. I don't see the character glasses anymore. They seem to disappear from the grocery shelf when they became popular in Fast food places. I don't eat in them any longer so I am not sure they still offer them as special promotions.
If you want to find jelly jar glasses you will find them in Goodwill stores and flea markets very cheap. And in my parent's garage. They have dozens wrapped up in tissue paper. We must have eaten a lot of jelly back in the 70's and mom saved all the jelly jars. Mostly Flinstones, if I remember correctly.
The last jelly in drinking glass jars I remember seeing was a series embossed with Peanuts characters - this was some time in the late 90s, I think. I don't remember the brand for sure, but it might have been Smucker's.

Got a big box of them in the garage or basement...
Only ones in the house are a set of eight from the 1950's with different colored stars on them. I think they are called atomic pattern or starburst. Wife wont let anyone use them.
I remember my grandparents sipping wine out of jelly jar glasses when I was a kid.
I fondly remember those. I see them at flea markets all the time. One of these days I am going to buy a set.
I haven't seen any at the grocery store with cartoon characters since I was a kid. I did recently pick up some German mustard in a small beer mug. How could I resist?
I think ours were Flintstones as well but sadly, they are long gone. Mom also saved little shrimp cocktail glasses for us to use. Similar in height to the jelly jars but not rounded. I still have one of these-it has push pins in it.
Actually, in my area you can still get jam and jelly in mason jar mugs and German mustard in little mugs too.
I save them all and use them. My mom had a whole collection of shrimp cocktail glasses - I think the brand was "Sau-Sea". We drank OJ in those.
Ditto the pimento and roka cheese glasses. And Flintstones Welch's grape jellly glasses.
I wish I still had them!
They are all quite collectable right now, with all of the interest in things "mid century".
