Do you have the recipe for the Golabki?

Here is the easiest recipe I know:

Brown a pound of hamburger, to that add a pound of cooked pasta, a chunk of velveeta (Which I know is expensive, but I'm sure you could find a suitable substitute), and a jar of salsa. I always add lots of Creole seasoning, but of course, you could add whatever you want.

I make a cheat version that is more like a meat loaf (got tired of spending the time softening the cabbage leaves).
1lb Hamburger (I use ground turkey)
mix in a chopped onion, 2 or three cups chopped cabbage, 1/2c. instant brown rice (or a cup cooked rice if you have some around), 1.c tomato sauce, salt, pepper, garlic and Worcester sauce.
Form into a loaf and put another cup of tomato sauce over it.
Cook at 350 for an hour.
Sorry I don't have real measurements, I make things up as I go and don't measure

Here's a recipe that I've used for years. You can take the time to steam and roll the cabbage rolls, or you can do it quicker/easier like this:

Stuffed Cabbage (The Lazy Way )

1/2 head of cabbage very coarsely chopped

Meatballs or Filling:
1 lb ground meat
1 egg beaten
1/4 cup rice (regular, not instant)
1 slice toasted bread, crumbled
1/2 onion, diced
1 T brown sugar
1 T lemon juice

Sauce:
1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
1 can Campbell's tomato soup
1 18 oz tomato juice
1 T lemon juice
3/4 cup brown sugar

Spray a dutch oven with non-stick spray and add the chopped cabbage. Mix the ingredients for the meatballs and form into golfball-sized balls. Layer the balls on top of the cabbage. Mix the ingredients for sauce, bring it to a boil, and then pour it over the cabbage/meatballs. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours.

I have steamed and made the actual cabbage rolls many times as this is one of my husband's favorite meals. This way is just easier and tastes just as good.

Creamed tuna fish

one can tuna, drained
one can peas with liquid
one can cream of mushroom soup, dilute slightly, just 1/4 cup water

heat all together in pan, serve over toast, also, good way to use up stale bread

my grandmother used to make this---

if you have bacon drippings, fry up white bread in the drippings, then sprinkle with sugar

make your own salad spread, my mother used to do this--get a hunk of bologna, grind it in a meat grinder, add some sweet pickle, just a small amount of mayo, let chill, makes great sandwiches.
