Only 4800 of this 1.6L version have been sold but it's serious enough for Ford to tell their customers to park it!
When Ford really stepped its game up, this happens.
Gimme3steps, I saw a bunch of those Escapes parked at that old drivein on Bardstown Rd in Louisville and thought Ford had one heck of product. This will not mean good things for Ford and Louisville where they are built.

Not sure what you mean by that but this seems like a parts quality or a design issue and not a build quality issue.

That was the 2001-2004 version. I saw a 2013 on a parking lot this morning and found it to be terribly ugly
compared to the older ones, they have really ruined it by making it look like all the Japanese station wagon
SUV wannabes.
Oops. I looked it up and the 2013 has that carpet/accelerator problem too!
Looks like a better handling than the cruise control issue from a few years back. My truck had the better switch installed at the factory, but seeing the underhood of another guys F-250 LD smoke as we tried to get his switch out was a fresh feeling.
"The original recall was to implement a fix that prevented the accelerator cable from getting caught on the pedal. The defect could keep the engine from idling. But CARS says the recommended repairs could easily damage the vehicle's cruise control cable which could lead to unintended acceleration."
"CARS says the new problem can be linked to at least one fatal accident and documents several other complaints from owners. Ford says it's conducting an investigation into the complaints."

So, if Ford sourced a crap part for the money they want for their vehicles, you're okay with that?
You're okay with their design flaws leaving the test grounds? Really, I get this is the real world and the consumers pay to be guinea pigs and have for some time now, but I'm not okay with that.
