We are new to the DFW area. Found a great career opportunity in Fort Worth. Thinking of renting in Keller because of the schools in the area ( 1 Sophomore and 1 Middle) and eventually build a home there. Wondering if someone could help me understand the daily commute that I have to deal with for work. I will be close to the Keller Parkway and work location is near FW Botanical garden. I do not drive on highways and will need to depend on local roads. I see that Beach Rd appears to be an option. Looking for any insights on how that commute is going to look like.

You're probably looking at an hour, maybe an hour and a half, commute each way during rush hour. All of the north-south roads are pretty heavily traveled. It's not a great commute using the freeways. Side streets only would make it pretty unbearable.

Edit: Even at this time of night, when you choose the "avoid freeways" option, Google maps puts it at 45 minutes.

Beach constantly has construction somewhere and you will go from traffic light to traffic light. Depending on time of the day you are looking at 90 minutes plus. I do not care for freeways. If you want to get from a to be without a lunchbox in your car you will have to learn to deal with them.

It depends on the time you leave. I commute from Heritage trace to downtown FTW and it takes me roughly 20 minutes. I don't think your commute would be that terrible but if you leave during rush hour then yeah, expect it to take twice as long.

Have you looked into taking the train? It leaves from North Richland Hills and takes you into downtown FW. You'd have to see how far your office is from the train station.

Right now, with minimal traffic, it'd be about 50 minutes. I would imagine the traffic to be much worse during rush hour.

You're on the right track, but your map has the Botanic Gardens about 4 miles south of where it actually is located. You can see the correct location in green on the north side of I-30. The location you have is actually near the Baptist seminary on Seminary Drive.

Getting to that location in itself and parking can just add time to a commute

Why would you want to avoid highways? I'd take a straight shot to 35w then jump off to the botanical gardens and make it in 30 mins or so.

I'm guessing you didn't see this line from the original post.
