I would love to speak with people who actually know anything about Azle, TX. I am desperate for information, anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated. We are considering buying one the lots in Deer Ridge Estates. Also, can some please recommend some custom builders that we should check out because I am overwhelmed with the variety.

I know Azle is really growing. If you live there and work in Fort Worth traffic is a nightmare which I hear they are doing something about. Anyway, here are some links including one from this forum:

I live close to Azle and love it. Deer Ridge is a nice area.. a bit out from Azle with some acreage, I believe. We live in Cattlebaron Parc and have for 9 years. The people are great, friendly and welcoming. There are lots of subdivisions going up in that area and really good deals now on housing. I don't have children in the schools, so can't really address that. There is a small hospital...Harris Northwest.. and I understand it is a good hospital; thank goodness, we have never had to use it! This is not a big shopping area, but has adquate grocery stores, a number of restraurants, a Wal-Mart Supercenter. There is a community theater group, but no movie theater. However, just down the road...about 8 miles is Lake Worth with all the shopping you want and a movie theater. Also you are only about 20 minutes away from Fort Worth with all the museums, shopping, restraurants, etc. you could want. There are several churches in Azle and they are very active in the community life. There are lots of community activities going on as in most small towns and lots of ways to get involved in the community. Azle is next to a large lake, Eagle Mountain Lake so boating, fishing, etc. is enjoyed by lots of the people there. There are lake front homes, boat docks, etc. in the Azle city limits. If you are moving there, I suggest a visit to look around and see where you want to live. There is quite a variety available. There are the city lots with or without lake access, there are lots where you can get acreage, there is horse property, gated communities, unincorporated land, etc. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the wonderful information! We were attracted to the Azle area the first time we drove there to look at property. We have lived in both small and large towns, and definitely prefer the small towns. We have a horse, so that is one reason we like Deer Ridge Estates. We have a jetski, so my husband will like being near the Lake. I was concerned about the shopping and I didn't realize that Lake Worth had so much available. This is all so exciting!

For horse property you might want to check out Cattlebaron Parc (it is on Cattlebaron Road off Hwy 1886 ). There is a house for sale with stables, arena, etc already there. Also Rolling Hills has a huge community arena and almost everyone there has horses, it seems. It is on Hwy 1886 and close by the area where you have been looking...Deer Ridge. Just a thought...

I have lived in Azle since my birth in 1956. We have great schools, churches, and new housing developments springing up everywhere. I feel the people are friendly, concerned about the community, and well aquainted with each other.
Traffic from Azle to Fort Worth has changed in the last few years. There are fewer bumper stickers which read, "Pray for me, I drive on Hwy 199". In the last decade a number of improvements have been made to the main route to Ft. Worth TX State Hwy 199. It is now safer with less cross overs, more traffic lights, a wider lanes. Come visit.

Thank you, Rick, for the information. My husband works in Arlington, and our concern is what his commute time would be. I've heard of the Infamous 199. Azle seems like such a really friendly, down to earth community. You are fortunate to have spent your childhood and on up there.

Red face deer creek

I am looking at the same area to move in also....did you talk to any home owners...wondering why so many new houses are for sale ...? It has a very low tax base and I love that part. Did you find a house yet there or still looking? I am a travel agent so maybe we can be neighbors one day...sorry not a nurse but have lots of nurse friends!
