just be aware of when the school districts in your area will have their spring break--could make Great Wolf Lodge pretty crowded...

Possum Kingdom Lake is the best lake in the area. It's about an hour to an hour and a half from Fort Worth, but so is Lake Whitney which was mentioned earlier.

Lake Granbury is decent and has PLENTY of lake houses for rent that are nice and fairly priced.

For my money, I (typically) go to Possum Kingdom.

frankly I would not plan on taking an outdoor vacation in April when we are having snow in the middle of Feb--I think it can be a long winter this year...

so while info about lakes is all well and good, I think the OP needs to reconsider her options...

I'd go to Granbury. Even if you can't swim, you could rent a boat, plus they have a drive-in movie theater, Granbury Opera House and Granbury Live for entertainment. Also, the shopping in downtown Granbury is pretty nice, my dw thinks so at least..

Thanks again everyone! It sounds like I have a few options that will have both indoor and outdoor activities. I appreciate all of the comments!
