I buy boots at Walmart.....pretty good ones for about 25 bucks.
When I got hired to work at a sawmill, I was told that I had to have steel-toed boots. I hadn't been working and the only ones I could afford were the ones I found at WalMart for around $25.00.
Those suckers were horrible! Seriously, they did permanent damage to a couple of my toes!
And then I found out after I started work that I didn't need steel-toed at all - that the policy had been changed. I'll bet a $25.00 pair of NON steel-toed WalMart boots wouldn't have hurt my toes so much!
I'm sure a million people have already pointed this out (don't plan on reading the rest of the thread to find out), but desiring matching appliances is not a need. It's a want...and that's fine. But, no, not a need.
You should probably read the thread. You're missing the fact that a want is a need. Thus something cannot be a want and fail to be a need at the same time.

I think with shoes, a $25 pair at Walmart could be a hit or miss. You can get a piece of crap or you can get something which is perfect for your feet. There's no guarantee. But with a slightly more expensive pair from a shoe brand that has put a lot of R&D into their design, you're likely to consistently get good shoes that provide the proper support, are safe, and are comfortable.
