Living under 1,000 a month. Help me budget/disperse 500 of it please.

I believe people pay less for electric in Texas because you can actually choose your electric provider, right? So, unlike in most places, electric providers don't have a monopoly and have to actually charge competitive rates to keep your business.

Hand operated washing machine - You can buy one for about $50, and then use it to wash your socks and your unmentionables. These are the things that must be washed often. Much of your other clothes can be worn many times before they need a wash.

If it reduced your laundry loads by a third it would pay for itself in 10 months, and just as importantly reduce the frequency of your laundry trips and shrink the amount of time you spend there.
