Heck yeah, I bring my own food to the movies. I don't bring anything elaborate, usually a granola bar and a bottle of water. Food prices at the movies are highway robbery.
not food, but i do buy a small coke, drink some, and then dump nips of rum into it
We'll bring in a few mini bottles and spike our sodas - assumning we go to a regular theater and not the one that allows you to bring in drinks from the bar.
Yes. I bring my purse and go to the dollar store beforehand to get candy (same boxes that I would pay $3 or more for at the movies). I also bring a water bottle sometimes.
Who goes to a movie theater? For the price of 2 tickets you can own a copy permanently if you're patient or redbox it for a buck.
Anyone who networks? Movies are a great topic for closing deals, getting jobs, etc. Just like sports.... and it's no good to talk about it (movies or sports) 6 months after the fact.
Sometimes I buy popcorn but my preferred snack is the little 2 for a dollar bags of hot peanuts (already shelled). I don't drink soda. I also haven't been to the movies in about 2 1/2 years. Seems to me it's just a faulty business model. Charging $5 for 5 cents of product is going to curry a lot of resentment from the customer base, most of whom probably don't operate within the confines of a cost/profit system themselves.
However I am a big fan of live music and found a few nice places I would like to stay open. In the past there was often an adversarial relationship between venues and patrons so I didn't really care about the survival of the place actually hosting the bands but I try to get something to eat, buy a Red Bull, bottle of water or something (unfortunately the profit is in alcohol and I just can't drink much anymore). Often I am getting in for free thru the bands but don't want to be a total deadbeat.
