she was referring to the weeds. thats what happens when you spray weeds with herbicide. they DIE. its quite tragic.
She also used the word "pesticide." There has been an unfortunate history in the use of pesticides and herbicides where not only plants and pests are affected but people DIE.

Goes to show some people don’t even know the difference between a pesticide and an herbicide. Pesticides aren’t used to kill weeds.

haha, listen you can make that case but your attempts to pretend that is what the OP said is looking pretty ridiculous.

yeah, its kind of funny how we are defending the OP that confronts the maintenance guy on his use of "pesticides" but is complaining about how its killing the weeds.

The fact that she was confused about terminology does not mean she should not be concerned about indiscriminate application of chemicals. Which is probably why she asked why the chemicals were being used. All the guy had to do was tell her what it was and why it was being used. Unless he had something to hide.

He wanted his cats to be able to go outside and kill things.
Yeah, Wikipedia. It's 4:55 AM and I'm not going to look further right now.
I got as far as the title of the piece to which you linked. There is no indication anywhere that the OP's cat was a hunter. There is no indication anywhere that the OP approved of or promoted the idea of his cat being a hunter. There is a direct concern of the OP that chemicals were being utilized that may have been harmful to the cat. Anything else is either way off topic or simply wild speculation.

I understand because I own a cat. She only gets to kill things which come into the house. The other day, it was a cricket.

An herbicide is a pesticide. Pesticide is a broad term referring to anything that kills a pest including weeds, insects, fungus and so on. It's not specific to insects. That would be an insecticide.
