We have two in my town, both have been here since the 1950's, they get packed every night from Friday thru Sunday. They show two features, not just one, and are always the latest hit movies, the same ones making the rounds at the regular "Stadium Seating" theatres. One charges $8.00 a car load (no matter how many people are in the car), and the other charges $7.00 a car load. The more expensive one still has the original speakers operational that connect to your car window, and I like that one the best because of that. Both have snack bars with very reasonably priced concessions, and you are perfectly free to bring your own food and coolers in to either one.

I can't understand why there are not more in existance, we love it.

I can see how they could possibly make a comeback. Luckily, there are about 6 of them within an hour and a half of me.

If you had actually read the thread, you would have seen that there are 8 still open in Michigan. And the ones I know of, are doing quite well.

There is a Blue Moon Theater (Parkway Drive-In) in Maryville, Tennessee and one (Midway Drive In) in Sparta, Tennessee.

"We strive to keep as much of the 50's and 60's atmosphere as possible while playing first run, double features on the weekends throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall."

Welcome to Blue Moon Theatres!

The one in Maryville, has a flea market in the daytime on the weekend. I just passed by it last Friday.

We have a drive-in theater here in Lake Worth.... It's best to bring lots of food and drinks (remember cooler with ice!) with you because the drive-in's food isn't really great. I get take out food, like chicken and ribs...one time I did that and when I got there I took my pants off and watched the double feature in my boxer shorts That was comfort!

There were a couple where I'm from in Ca, Santee Drive In and El Cajon Drive In, not sure if they are still in business since we left in 2001...and there is one nearby where we live now (VA) called Mayberry which I am anxious to take the kids to!
