St Louis has been in a very severe snow-drought over the past decade or more. It's been years since downtown Stl's last 6-inch snowfall. Richmond, VA has also been in a similar situation. From Baltimore northward (especially north of New York) the last few winters have been rather snowy, though. New England has been jackpot since 2004. Lucky Bostonians!

My whole family loves winter. Here in NH it stays kind of gray and overcast a lot but at least it snows. But we still ski, crosscountry and downhill, snowshoe etc. We also have a place near Bayfield WI. What a difference in winter. The days are a lot sunnier. We were there for 2 weeks in winter and I had to wear sunglasses each day. And there is a ton of snow which we love. I'll take sun and snow over and gray and snow anyday!

I hate winter which is why I'm moving to Dallas. They get a maybe a handful of "winter-like" days from December-February but half of those months are relatively warm and then it's warm by March and doesn't get very cold again until November. Nice!

I don't really like winter but I don't actually hate it. In NYC the 2 worst things are the dirty slush puddles that form after it snows at the street corners making it difficult to cross the street and the biting cold when it is around the freezing mark and below.

old thread, but i love a cold and snowy winter, what i dont like is warm(33-45 degree) and rainy winter. I like to actually go out and enjoy the snow, the ice and the sports/activities that come along with it such as skiing, snowmobiling, winter hiking, etc.

I do not care for the shorter days tho. I need my sunlight!

My winter is what everyone considers to be the worst in the country, but I love sub zero temperatures with wind and snow. So yes, I like winter.

There's something magical & romantic about Winter....
I love watching the beauty of the first snow fall, coming home after sledding to have hot cocoa, etc.
I absolutely love Winter.
Christmas eve, cuddling up....wine, the tree beautifully lit up.....magical

I really enjoy winter. We get about 50 inches of snow here annually, but I would be happy with twice that much. I also like it when the temps stay in the 20s and below for long stretches, without a thaw. One of my least favorite things is when we get a good snow pack and then it melts, which happens too often around here. There is nothing more exciting than tracking a big snowstorm as it rolls in and watching it come down, and then digging out afterwards.

Some of my favorite winters were when I lived in the lake effect snow belt near Lake Michigan, and we would get a few inches of snow every day for two weeks straight, with temps in the 20s and teens, and it would just slowly build up. Never a dull moment with conditions like that. We got 120 inches of snow one winter and I loved it. I've found that winter can be quite boring when it is just cold and dry and it isn't snowing. Also, while I do like a beautiful sunny day during the winter with fresh snowfall, I also think cloudy conditions are a little easier on the eyes during the winter. Bright sunshine reflecting on the snow day after day can get a little tiresome.
