I pronounce it ee-kay-ah because my family is Norwegian and I was going to IKEA since before I could speak, but Americans always seem to know what I am talking about despite not using the common pronunciation here.

ee-bee-za is closer to the Balearic Catalan prounciation. (though eh-vee-sa might be closer)

eye-bee-tha is how British speakers, influenced by Castillian Spanish pronunciation, say it., i.e. doubly wrong.

I work in Urban Planning and I hear alot of crazy **** from Massachusetts town names pronounced wrong by out of staters.

Reading through all the posts it's funny how everyone pronounces these things differently from all the different states.

More MA towns and cities mispronounced:

Malden, MA: People call it Mal-den, when we pronounce it Mall-din.

Medford, MA: People call it Med-ford, we pronounce it Med-fid.

(I know you posted this city already) Quincy, MA: People pronounce it Quin-sea, like John Quincy Adams. Bostonians pronounce the city as Quin-zee.

Everett, MA: People have pronounced it Ever-ett, we pronounce it Ev-rit.

Tewksbury, MA: People call it Tewks-bury. We call it Tooks-berry.

Chicopee, MA: People call it Chick-o-pee. We pronounce it Chick-uh-pee.

I like all those town names from Mass. I have some distant relatives from the 1600s who lived in Ipswich, north of Salem. I had lunch one time in a town called Sandwich in the Cape Cod area. I am willing to guess the local pronunciation differs from how most of us would probably say the town names.
