Care to explain the HEB near my old Houston house then?
Unless there's been a freak closing in past 6 years that I haven't lived there, because last I checked it's still there.
Checking online locator, I see there are HEBs in Houston. But In the Dallas area,there are none further north than Waxahatchie. I stand corrected about Houston.
Louisiana specialty grocery market. It has all the Cajun/creole stuff unique to this area in addition to a great deli, seafood market, pizzeria, sushi bar, and sit down lunch buffet in the store. Really really nice place to get groceries. A Louisiana gem.
My daughter works at Rouse's down in Houma/Thibideaux area. It's a really nice store and so clean.

Around here in ABQ I really dig Sprouts. It's a cross between Trader Joes and Whole Foods, quality is better than TJ's but prices are a lot more reasonable than Whole Foods. I know they have them in Colorado and New Mexico, not sure where else but I know they are located in other states.
in other states I like.....

Market Basket in MA/NH, the cheaper store but quality was pretty good and had the best selection as they have improved a lot over the years.
I'm from the west side of Michigan and none of your stores we have. But I will put in a vote for meijers. Meijers is the first supercenter of its kind coming with the supercenter format in 1968. Meijers are located primarily in the Midwest. With 180 stores. And they are privately owned which is way they ate not national.
I'm not going to count Whole Foods because I consider it a specialty market, and Trader Joe's is kindof specialty, too, and too small.
Of the big, traditional market chains, I like Kroger...specifically QFC here in Washington state, and its value sister Fred Meyer. QFC has a high quality deli dept, nice meats, OK prepared foods, fresh (and lots of organic) produce. It's better than Ralph's, which is the Kroger brand in California.
Every time I've been to Publix in Florida I've been completely underwhelmed. I was shocked the last time I was at one in a fancy resort town...horrible produce and poor quality merchandise on the shelves...almost a full aisle of white bread and very few healthier options. I get it that a supermarket will carry what the locals will buy, but that is just depressing and not what I think of when I think of a grocery store I look forward to shopping in.
Yes, QFC is one of the best grocery stores in the country. They exist in Seattle and Portland. Prices are higher, but they offer the best quality. Owned by Kroger. Probably Kroger's best franschise, and they must be thinking about expanding that brand around the country.
Kowalskis and Lunds are both really great chains - much better than Whole Foods, but I don't think either exist outside of the Twin Cities. Both are basically full service gourmet supermarkets. Lunds has as good a selection of artisanal cheeses as many dedicated cheese stores on the coasts.
Of the ones in the poll Trader Joes and Costco are the only ones we have here, both are ok but I don't generally go to either.
I am NOT including Whole Foods in the poll because it's too much of a broad, national chain.
A bit of a conflict...
When in Florida there are some grocery stores we prefer, but they are not in our home state... But I voted on your list.
