Santa Fe has an absurd number of wealthy people, but also some really depressed parts. What it lacks is a significant middle class. They can't afford to live in the gentrified parts of town, but they don't want to live in the ghetto either.

For any of these locales, there are some service industry folks that definitely aren't rich. Anyway I'd say that most all Colorado mountain towns fit the bill- the most notable being Aspen, Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, and Telluride. They're awesome little places with very little affordable housing inventory. Anyway, it's all relative- most all of the places on the list look exclusive- but after living in the Roaring Fork Valley of CO, some of the places like Santa Fe and even Palm Beach actually look somewhat affordable to me, which I never would have imagined. Yes, there are plenty of very wealthy people in those cities, but there is a much bigger population (possible job opportunities) and a higher amount of housing available.

Ladue, MO has a reputation for being one big community for the rich. Same with many of the municipalities around it, including Town and Country, Frontenac, Huntleigh, etc.

Sea Island, GA. You simply have to be rich to live there. It requires a pass to get beyond the guards. To do so, you must:

a) be a member of one of the clubs.
b) be staying at the Cloister.
c) live there.
d) have permission of a resident.

That's it. No looky-loos allowed.

Gulfstream, FL, with the exception of the little enclave located to the west of the Intracoastal Waterway (which is "merely" upper-middle class).
