Huh? I'm in Baton Rouge, LA right now. My home is $250k. Safe area and a good school district but its in the burbs so I still have a commute. Home and auto insurance is high and wages are low. What exactly am I saving vs. other areas?

I'd save way more money if I moved to somewhere like Bloomington, IL but I wouldn't want to deal with the cold in exchange for a few weeks a year of vacation.

Is it possible to ever stick to the topic?

I like the same characteristics in a city, but have yet to find such a place down south. A southern town might have a few of the traits, but always seems to fall short. I prefer the cold weather, but even then I don't think it's as big a deal as people think.
Every place will require compromise.
Personally, I find weather one of the easier things to adjust to.
