What man-made buildings/structures/statues/monuments do people see and immediately know what city they represent.

There are some obvious ones, such as:

New York City - Statue of Liberty
San Francisco - Golden Gate Bridge
St. Louis - Gateway Arch
Washington DC - White House/Capitol Hill
Seattle - Space Needle

What do you think are some others?

I'm guessing you can say these might work -

Los Angeles - The Hollywood Sign
Chicago - The Sears Tower and possibly the Chicago Spire in the future

New York - Yankee Stadium and THEN the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn Bridge, Freedom Towers (in a few years), Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, etc.

New York is the King of Symbols.

Many people wouldn't immediately recognize the Yankee Stadium. The Statue of Liberty is THE symbol of New York, recognized around the world.

Yankee Statium is well known around sports fans in the U.S., but if you showed Yankee Stadium without the logos or name, how many people will recognize it?

The Statue of Liberty is the Symbol of America. Yankee Stadium is the Symbol of New York for New Yorkers.

As a New Yorker I have to disagree. The Empire state building is more iconic. I've seen it many times but have seen the SOL only once or twice. It's harder too see where as the ESB is just downtown.

You meant Midtown, didn't you? 34th is in Midtown.

Very few U.S. cities have truly iconic architecture. But I would definitely add to your list the following:

Philadelphia -- Independence Hall and the Librety Bell (although it is not some grand site that is visible from everywhere in the city).
San Antonio -- The Alamo (ditto)
San Francisco -- Other icons: the Transamerica Building and Alcatraz Island.
Boston -- that new bridge and Fanueil Hall

The question wasn't aimed at what New Yorkers thought would be immediately recognizable. Let's think outside the box for two seconds and realize that not everyone is from New York.
