My wife and I are temporarily living in Cape Cod, MA helping care for her mom who is battling Parkinson's Disease. Our permanent home is in the Charlotte area, soI have 2 areas to comment about, lol. These are in no order. There are good and bad things about ANY area. These are just some of the positives off of the top of my head.
Charlotte, NC: 1. One of the prettiest/cleanest large cities in the country; 2. Great weather; 3. Affordable, you get a lot for your $$$.
Cape Cod, MA: 1. Many beautiful, quaint towns; 2. Some of the most friendly people I've encountered in the Norheast; 3. Great mom n pop restaurants.
1. Affordable housing with a variety of neighborhoods and suburbs available, because f*** gentrification.
2. Good 4-season climate with an awesome winter
3. The lake and all the activities on/around the lake. Presque Isle State Park included
Fringe of Downtown Seattle:
--Easy to live without a car and walk to work (I rent out my parking space).
--Nearly-constant infill and densification, gradually in past decades but amazing amounts in the boom that started in mid-2010 and seems poised to continue for a while.
--Growing international feeling due to residents (influenced by tech boom) and tourism (also booming).
2) Lots of free and affordable family friendly attractions - Museum, Zoo, Science Center, Art Museum, etc are all free ♡ It makes it a wonderful place to raise a family.
3) Weather- we get the 4 seasons and while Summer is very hot, it isn't excessively long.
Currently: comfortable climate, clean air, ease of getting around town.
That said, I can't wait to get out of here!
