I've seen several articles lately pointing out the same thing. Most recently, Money Magazine was noting the data centers and predicting Nova as the probable winner. Although I still think the MD site has an edge and could be the winner.

Anyone know what WashPo is predicting? since Bezos owns them, you'd think they'd have inside info, LOL. Or maybe they'd predict a red herring just for the fun of throwing people off...

On a side note, I wonder how Trump's recently inflamed grudge against Amazon might influence this decision (if at all).

What this doesn't take into account is that is there potentially a desire for HQ2 to have less reliance on any single location. So with the DMV already getting a lot of activity one could make an equally valid argument that it may lesson the desire to place all eggs in one basket (happy Easter). And in some ways their desire to generate a separate HQ is by default suggesting more geographic and location diversity.

Again just a thought but I honestly could read that either way and in turn not sure in and of itself says much of anything

A Bloomberg piece on the political dimension of the HQ2 decision and some interesting ideas about where it stands:
https://www.bloomberg.com/view/artic...t-politics-too

Quote:
So when Georgia lawmakers yanked a big tax break for Atlanta-based Delta Airlines earlier this year over the company’s severed ties with the NRA, Amazon executives who keep mum about the second headquarters derby privately expressed skepticism about Atlanta’s chances. A Boston-area college lecturer pushed the point further in a piece in Forbes: “Delta’s NRA Move Gives Boston HQ2 Edge Over Atlanta.â€
Not to beat any dead horses, but I thought this was an interesting quote, and the article does make some interesting points. And politics is also business. In the current climate, why be anywhere but the front line to protect your company from unwarranted regulation that is possibly going to impact your bottom line? You don't have to be in DC or NY, but it will help.

Quahog never had a chance, but thought South Park was a real contender.

^ This.

The same logic may apply to Atlanta, where Amazon already houses AWS, A9 and their new logistics tech unit in the city.

Amazon officials were reported to be in Columbus over the weekend watching the Women's Final Four tournament, and were apparently giving glowing reviews of the city.

In any event, there's increasing chatter that the decision will come either this month or no later than by the end of May.

Interesting. I wonder if that's wishful thinking, rumor, or a real possibility. If it's a real possibility it seems clear which choice has been made.
