Euro Mutt = Wales, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Alsace, Germany.
That's interesting, LD. Other than France, we have the same lineage. I have some Cherokee (for real) in me. The Alsace, we never were sure if the ancestor was French or German but fairly certain was Jewish.
It gets somewhat complex with me. If they ask, my response is that I'm: Italian, British, German and Slovakian.
The longer answer is that half of my British ancestors were from Scotland, and the others were probably French originally. My Slovakian ancestors are very confusing...half the family had a German name, but they spoke Slovak. Nearly every time I asked my Grandmother were her parents were from, she said Prague, Austria...but, Prague is currently in the Czech Republic. One of their passports says they were from Budapest, Hungary.
Confusing. Yet, I think the reason my grandmother said Austria was because they were from the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. The German last names probably come from the fact that Western Slavs mixed with the Germans, but I'm not quite sure where Budapest comes from.
Also, there's a very interesting Ellis Island documentation site, that found that claims my ancestors considered themselves Slovak....thus, I just say Slovakian.
Where is Spain and Portugal? Who can participate in this stupid thread when the OP doesn't even include all the European nations? DUH!
