It begins with the parents, period. Discipline, involvement, tolerance, self-esteem.... all this stuff needs to be taught and practiced in the home to carry through to the schoolyard.

I thought the below was an interesting take on this, even if I don't agree with every word it certainly makes you think.

You can't necessarily blame it all on parents. Do ya'll know how kids are treated today in school? Being harrassed,made fun of,beat up and more....parents can only control there kids when they are at home,but once there at school or w/e their not there! I believe many school shootings are because the shooter has most likely been a victim of bullying and now their just taking revenge.
