Thats something thats going to be hard to prove.. because you do see that type of stuff in a lot of small towns. Some of those things mentioned, you see in inner cities also!

The term is inherently insulting, but what the heck.

Princeton Wordnet defines a hick as "a person who is not very intelligent or interested in culture." So it might make sense to look for a town with low education and little cultural outlets.

Willard, Ohio looks fairly undereducated.

If it's more about isolation from a metropolitan area than it's probably some town in Alaska. For the contiguous US a contender is Bison, South Dakota, which is near the "spot furthest from a McDonald's." Bison is also over a 100 miles from Rapid City and this site says of it "Percentage of population with a bachelor's degree or higher significantly below state average."

Based on your definition there are large portions of the populations of big cities that fit the description.

is from Hicksville.

It's on an Indian Reservation. Can a Native American be a hick? (IMO, I suppose, but they aren't the first group the word hick conjures up for me)

Yes, I think it's fair to say many poor, newly arrived migrants to big cities are hicks. Always been that way. I'm guessing my Eurpoean ancestors would've been considered hicks when they immigrated to NY in the late 1800s.

I actually think that's where some of the culture comes from. Unintentionally.
