Savannah MSA 2000-2010
293,000 + 54,611 = 347,611 (18.6 percent)

Savannah CSA 2000-2010
364,914 + 60,614 = 425,528 (16.6 percent)

Savannah MSA 2010-2020 (projected)
347,611+ 79,521 = 427,132 (22.8 percent)

LOL! I have always viewed Savannah as the second city in the GA regardless of the population.

To most people..When Georgia comes to mind...It goes Atlanta, Savannah, then the rest!

I don't want to spoil your shine lol, but the 57,193 metro Augusta gained from 2000-2010 is higher than 54,611.. Savannah did beat out Augusta in terms of percentage growth though..

You have to look at the growth percentages.

8 pages, EIGHT PAGES of arguing who is the second largest MSA or CSA in Georgia and none of you have it right:

Chattanooga CSA 2011: 702,714

If Augusta, Savannah and Columbus are going to add out of state counties in their figures, you gotta consider the three counties in GA (Dade, Walker and Catoosa) that are part of the Chattanooga CSA. And while the CSA adds Athens and Cleveland TN to Chattanooga's MSA, IMO, Dalton should be just as much a part of the CSA (closer to Chattanooga than Athens, TN... by 25 miles!) and the totals of Whitfield and Murray Counties added in. If so, that would bring the CSA to 845,455.

Show Chattanooga the respect, boys!

Just one question? Why would we show Chattanooga some respect when it's about Georgia's largest cities and metros? It's not like it's Chattanooga GA it's Chattanooga TN.

Then limit the argument to the city proper and not the metro area. Augusta and Savannah boosters are adding South Carolina counties in their totals, Columbus boosters are adding Alabama counties in their total. The Chattanooga MSA comes into Georgia. That's why.

Doesn't make sense still because Savannah, Augusta and Columbus are the principal cities in their metro areas which are located in Georgia. Those counties in the other states are getting added to population because it's in their metropolitan area. Chattanooga is not in Georgia so that's kind of irrelevant.

This is a Georgia thread and the principal cities are in Georgia not another state.
