Chicago is Malibu compared to their own town. Perhaps they should work on pulling the tree stump out of their own eye first.

You're a broken record at this point. Do you have anything of value to add? Do you have any investment or stake in what happens in Chicago, or are you just here to stir sh*t up and thus we just start ignoring you now?

Who are they? I am the person who posted it. It was an interesting news documentary which was part of a series this reporter has done all across the USA. Not sure if you were able to see the video, it seemed to not upload with the story. Neither the local Detroit media outlet nor I "are targeting Chicago" and reveling in the murder rate in your city. Everyone in metropolitan Detroit is keenly aware that Detroit's homicide rate is the highest or one of the highest in the country. Second, this reporter has done hundreds of stories about the woes of Detroit such as ambulance, police, lighting, drugs, homicides, etc. Here to make you feel better:

To put a sports spin to it, in baseball, is the home run champ, the guy who finishes the season with the most total number of home runs or the guy with the highest home run ratio per at bat?
To me raw numbers are largely useless. Just like city limits in general. The rate is what is constant among all cities, and to me is the much stronger indicator of overall safety than raw numbers.

NY did it by stop and frisk which was popular when started.; now rates are climbing. Now quick some forget how things start. In time we will see law and order demanded in many places; its a pendulum that swings.

Stop and fisk targeted Black and Latinos men . It was slipping slope.
Alot of the shooting are gang related.
People don't understand that people join gangs for money and power. Most of the money come from drugs and stealing things. If we make pot affordable and available to general public, it would put a dent in gangs' pockets. Also Birth control would help.

That being said, yes, I have no problem believing that Chicago's homicide rate is down....but that is because of improved medical technology that is able to save more lives. The number of shootings is out of control and is up this year from last year. Even the "nice" neighborhoods are not immune. Just check out the CWB blog, and we read about plenty of crime in the MSM sources when they actually do their job. Just remember that the indicator of how dangerous a city is, is not necessarily the murder rate....but the number of shootings, and Chicago is winning this race. LOL!

You shouldn't blame the national media for giving your city a bad name. You should blame yourselves and your democratic party machine leaders...but I guess it's just the liberal way to not take personal responsibility and blame someone else. The media is only doing its job, and Chicago's violence is newsworthy. 62 people were shot over the July 4th weekend. Is that not newsworthy? Also, the fact that Chicago is basically Greece doesn't help its reputation either. How do you spin that?

I'm so glad I got the hell out of Chicago and Illinois. You really don't realize how much life is better when you leave that cesspool.

Did you hear about that poor kid on the south side who was killed in his baby stroller?
"it's just the liberal way to not take personal responsibility and blame someone else"

So if conservative Republicans were in control,of Chicago...crime would be down?

I think that one reason Chicago is in the spotlight is its (largely deserved) reputation for corrupt city and state government going back at least to WWI.

From Al Capone to the last Illinois governor (how many in a row ended up in prison?,) Chicago has earned a reputation for lawlessness that it might not totally deserve, but it is also hard to defend against, based on the record.

Couple that with the fact that Chicago is the President's home town, plus having the ex=-White House chief of staff as Mayor, and there is a big "look here!" sign on the town, whether you like it or not.
