Yeah, its somewhat offensive however, I've been to Utah a couple of times and if Portlanders are anything like Utahans they are too white. Being a white guy that grew up in the south there is a definite cultural difference compared to my home state. That doesn't make it a bad thing though. :shrugs:
That is not fair to compare another state with another you just got off topic. I live in Utah in a small town that is mostly white and has about 14,000 mexican restaurants, one sushi, one italian, and oh yea one or two chinese. I am only defending Utah.
Plus, there's no such thing as 'too white'. What a racist and unthinking thing to say. I hear that bandied about all the time like it's acceptable or something. Even stupid white people say it occasionally. Imagine someone saying South Chicago was 'too black'...the storm of self-righteous outrage that we'd be forced to listen to. Yet somehow, seemingly intelligent people will trot this absolutely racist line out and proudly show the world how ignorant they are.
Being white is a wonderful thing, believe me, and being black is wonderful too, I'd guess from the looks of things, though from all the chips on people's shoulders...seems like some people have a lot of soul searching and 'quite time' before they really feel secure with themselves.
Yeah! I got the last post in before it got locked!

Italians are white, though. All (or most) groups indigenous to Europe are white, that includes groups such as Italians, Greeks, French, etc.
What is white really? I live in NYC and some of the whites here would probably not feel comfortable living in Utah. Whites are not a homogenous group, they may look white, but they have different experiences than someone who grew up in Utah or Wyoming.
I'm curious to hear from the people who think that this is a problem... what would be a good solution? Mandating a certain percentage of every city's population be this or that ethnicity? Mandating that once a city has X percentage of white citizens, make some of them move out? Bus minorities in from other countries? I live in what might be one of the "whitest" counties in the US..(98%- my actual town is more like 99% white) I'm interested in the ways that people think it could become less "white", because I can't think of any that would be logical...
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. If the US population is 65% white non-hispanic, and 75% white, where are all those whites supposed to live, so as to avoid creating white-majority cities?
