So what you really argue is that US produced products have declined in quality, not products overall?

That is a claim I'm more inclined to, at the very least understand. I still don't think it's gotten worse, part from in market segments where people now prefer to change out their models often because they can afford it, but compared to what's produced elsewhere, the US has certainly lost some market shares.

I disagree, I don't believe most people prefer to change out their models often because they can afford it. As for me, that is certainly not the case. I want what I buy to last so that I can stretch my dollar beyond constant replacement products. If that were the case that I simply prefer to change out for a newer model, the purpose of the thread would be pointless. I was specifically responding to the individual who was implying that the reason for the lack of integrity was based on out-sourced purchases from countries outside the US whose products are inferior to those made in the US. Not that I do not buy products from outside the US, because I do, however I try to buy US made products. That being said, the quality of ALL markets are inferior to what they were in the past. Cheaper quality parts may be to blame, as others have identified that plastic parts are now being used in place of the older models with metal parts that do not wear out as fast.

So...all I'm saying is...I still contend, with few exceptions, that the majority of our products are made with less integrity to those of yesteryear...for the most part.
