Today in the US we are subjected to gobs of government rules and regulations. I understand that some of that control is supposed to be for the well being of the citizens. However, where is the line between safety and domination? When you watch the video keep in mind this is a food coop the police are raiding. Not for drugs but for raw food products that the members of this coop choose to buy and consume. With their guns drawn and in a threatening manner the police arrested several members of this coop and charged them with felonies.
We are being forced to buy and eat GMO's, given little to no choice on meat with A/B's or hormones, and are offered irradiated foods. I believe the wrong people were charged here.
This is a year old but it demonstrates how we, the American consumer, are being dictated to by big business and the corporation. Farmers have been forced out of business by industrial farm concerns and Monsanto has sued over GMO rights. Now it seems that they will even attack a local coop selling select products to a select few who prefer these products. What has happened to the freedom of the American people?

From articles I have read, these folks were arrested for illegally raw milk and other unpastuerized products. This has nothing to with a large corporation trying to put them out of business.

I don't think large companies care that much because the average person doesn't want raw products. Raw milk looks, smells and tastes like s**t. I've had it from a dairy farm and would never try it again.

As for complaining about the cops having their guns drawn during the arrest, you obviously have no understanding or concept of how law enforcement works. Any time a "raid" goes down there is potential for the perp to pull a gun, resist, etc. The LEOs executed the warrant/raid go into all of them protecting themselves as much as possible. This includes drawing weapons. I really don't know what you mean by "in a threatening manner", simply having the gun drawn is a threat in itself.

How dare the government interfere with the right of the free market to include Listeria in our food.

Raw milk taken from any animal in a clean environment isn ot a helath hazard. Raw goat's milk is delicious. Pasteurization was developed because milk was being taken from cows who were dirty, buy people who were dirty and put into dirty containers. For mass consumption, pasteurizatiion is necessary, but it kills all the good vitamins in the milk that is why corporate farms add vitamin A/D or whatever. After pasteurization, milk is about as nutritious as a glass of water.

"How dare the government interfere with the right of the free market to include Listeria in our food."

Obviously you have little to no knowledge of good wholesome food. Please continue to enjoy your burgers and fries along with the other dead food provided by the industrial food suppliers and keep on believing your eating safe food.

bs13690,

Thanks for sharing your opinion of the taste of raw milk. We can all see you have a way with words.

Police are public servants who are paid by the citizens they are supposed to protect. When does serving a warrant on a coop call for a full all out assault as though there were after a meth lab? The tactics the police used here were uncalled for and extreme. When anyone pulls, holds and aims a gun it is a threat no matter who is holding the gun. There have been far too many innocent people killed by police with guns drawn.

For the people who love to be told by the government what to do...
Best place is the institutions (mental hospital, jail etc...) where you can than be told and managed in every aspects of the ways....

Other than that...
I don't see why shouldn't everyone have the *FREEDOM* to eat what they like.

--------

Say a group likes greasy burgers as staple... why should they choke their idea on others who does not like burgers???? Same with "green diet", "atkins diet", "natural diet" or anything else. To do so is simply not keeping the balance of nature (so we don't "de-forrest" (or whatever you call it) too much by only eating greens... or kulling the herd (meats) to the point they become endangered species).

Everything in moderation.

And who better to tell you what to eat than *YOUR OWN BODY*???
Heard about the cravings during pregnancy???
There may be a science to why we crave what we crave... is to eat a certain mineral/vitamin that will keep the body healthy when it gets all it needs to maintain it so.

A food practice that is totally policed and regulated will end up only killing you or making you reliant to another institute when ill... (hospital, clinics etc.)

Even the same medicine affects individuals DIFFERENTLY... doesn't it make sense food will too (allergies came to mind)??? On top of that, say if your body really needs the extra salt today... but today's menu is regulated salt content (not enough for you) = health problems???
