Brucellosis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Raw milk was still OK in the early 1940s. However, Undulent Fever and Brucellosis got to be a big problem. Maybe when it finally gets eliminated, raw milk can get back in the Market Place. Until then, be very, very sure that you know where the raw milk comes from.

I grew up where most milk came in raw form....there were a lot of tuberculosis around, in fact epidemic levels...just saying....everyone in their right mind knew to boil the milk. Drinking raw milk there had lead to more TB infection risk than "living in the same household with a person with tuberculosis" factor. Also, if you know/inspect your cow/goat personally, it's one thing, but when you get the milk from someone else, you never know if dirty hoof was in that milk first (as in stepping into the bucket) or animal was unhealthy.
