From a native on a budget:
1. (Free) Blowing Rock at night (near Caesar’s Head. You can see the whole upstate on a clear night!)
2. (Free) Walk down main street (even better with a dog).
3. (Free - but you will see something you want!) Visit Mast General store
4. (Free on Sunday afternoon) BJU Art museum
5. (Free) Falls Park
6. (Free?) Visit Parris Mountain State Park
7. Roper Mountain Science Center Friday Night show ($5 for adults)
8. Have a tiger tank at City Tavern ($6 I think)
9. Soby's Restaurant - try the She Crab Soup; it's the best I've ever had! (Pricey, but worth it)
10. Go to a drive game. (Tickets start at $7)

The admission to Paris Mountain State Park is $2 per adult, children are free. Still an inexpensive day of hiking!

A better list than I could have come up with, given the time! Thanks!

Wow! What a great question but better yet what great lists! I learned of brand new things like par 3 golf (just my speed).

Great Question, my recommendation for a Greenville Bucket List (tried to keep it Greenville centric)

1) Falls Park & Liberty Bridge (Shakespeare in the park is a cool experience)
2) Walk along Main Street
3) Hike to the top of Table Rock for sunrise
4) Take in a concert at Freedom Weekend aloft (awesome to watch a good band with hot air balloons floating overhead)
5) Watch a Drive game at Fluor Field on a Friday night & stay for the fireworks
6) Grab a BBQ Sandwich from Henry's on Wade Hampton (all the Henry's are good, but the Wade Hampton store is the original)
7) Watch a sunrise at Pretty Place
8) Walk/Run/Bike the full Swamp Rabbit Trail
9) Breakfast at Tommy's Country Ham House (what restaurant is more Greenville?)
10) Tour the BMW factory (Cost is less than $10 and has to be scheduled, but is a very good tour of a factory that has helped transform the upstate)

There's a free playground at Runway Cafe at the Downtown Greenville Airport located off Keith road. You can go in and grab a bite to eat (really good food and reasonable prices) while you watch planes land and take off from the Greenville Airport - NOT GSP. Inside and outside dining areas - very fun!

Paris Mt State Park is a great place to spend time, hiking, nature viewing and pick nick spots, lake and big creeks. They use to have paddle boats... fishing is permitted with a license.
Two large water parks , one is the southern part of Greenville, Simpsonville and one is the northern part near Traverlers Rest.
Swamp Rabbit Trail is great for biking.
Museum at Bob Jones University.
Greenville Zoo and Clevland Park are fantastic.
Cambells Covered Bridge
Table Rock Park,
So many parks in the area to enjoy.
Live music at Furman University at the lake.
Music downtown on Thursday and Friday night and free movie outdoors in the summer.
Excellent homes for sale and a thriving economic opportunity.
So hope that is helpful.

One thing I did not see mentioned here is taking your young kids (if you have any) to play in "the train fountain" at River Place just under the Lazy Goat Restaurant -- another freebie and great fun for the kids in the warmer months.
