Direct dropped Nick and some other channels. Dish dropped AMC but added ASX, HD2 and some other channels. I personally like Dish channel line up much better, they have the same sports packages as Direct, plus Dish is generally cheaper and negotiates much better. There is a French channel I was curious about. They would install a new dish and waive the $100 installation fee so I could satisfy my curiosity. They offer satellite internet too, but it is slow because of how it works.
It has been my experience that rural Internet is not very good. If you can pull down 25Mbps you are doing as well as Dallas. The highest I can grab is 10Mbps which is a miracle and 1000 times better than 256K. I get it though Century Link phone bundle. It too is very stable.
