...and Greer. We have to be the most under served movie theater area in the country. For a county population of 1/2 million to only have theaters in Cherrydale, Woodruff Rd. and Pleasantburg is utterly absurd. I was actually thinking about this yesterday.
Yeah your right about that when I was younger I lived in a small town in NY way smaller then Simpsonville. We did not even have a red light and heck we had a movie theater there. Just don't understand with so many more people that live here they would not want a movie theater closer by.
According to the IMAX website (http://www.imax.com/ImaxWeb/theatresResults.do?zipCode=29601 - broken link), Regal's Hollywood 20 Cinema on Woodruff Road is scheduled to open an IMAX theatre this fall.
That is awesome. I also am not a huge movie watcher; however, it is pretty neat to have something like this, especially when we will be one of only 52 in the entire country to have one.

One is slated for Greer at Dillard Creek Commons/Creekside Village. I don't know of one planned for Simpsonville though unfortunately.
I wouldn't get too excited about IMAX. I was excited too, until I went to the one in Charleston. It was about $12 to get in, and there were about 10 people in there, which was during the tourist season last year. We took my nephew to see H Potter in 3-D. The 3-D part lasted about 20 minutes. The screen is larger, and that's about it to me. The one in Charleston closed down shortly after - I guess it was too expensive for most. I was not very impressed.

I've been to several IMAX theaters and I am impressed. The large format, sound, 3-D, etc.....all make the theater experience much better IMO.
I think is great that Greenville is in a select group of larger cities receiving these. A definite plus.

Agreed. I've been to the one in Charleston, Omaha, Charlotte, and Myrtle Beach. VERY impressed. This one should be a lot more successful than the Charleston one due to the fact it is located in a better area and inside a movie theater instead of in a freestanding building by itself. Plus, Magnolia Park will draw people to it.
