Not to state the obvious but the most like Hawaii in the U.S. would be...well...Hawaii!! Come on...you had to see that one coming didn't ya?

Key West, Florida would be the closest, but not close enough for any real comparison.

Yup, Key West has a definite "Waikiki" or "Lahaina" flavor to it with just a touch of "Kauai" tossed in.

Admittedly, I've still never been to Hawaii, but it seems like you find pieces of it everywhere.

Everyone is always talking about how friendly everyone in Hawaii is—I would contend that it can't possibly be as much so as the Midwest. There's a joke around here that a traffic jam in Kansas is usually two or more people at a four-way stop, each determined to be more polite than the other.

Looking at pictures of Hawaii, the architecture and building materials remind me a lot of my childhood home of La Mesa, CA.

Former FL resident, and unfortunately, the unbearable humidity of Key West takes it out of the running, in my opinion.
