When doing the prep for my colonoscopy, yes, it wasn't pleasant, but I loved the feeling of being completely 'empty'.

Lately I have been having pretty constant constipation. The Ducolax that used to be the sure fire fix isn't working the way it used to, and neither is the other laxative I tried. I can't get a doctor's appointment until October, and I REALLY need some relief. I swear if I can just get 'empty' again I'll change my ways - go back on the fiber and eat more fruit and vegetables. I SWEAR.

Anyway, is there an OTC that is more thorough than Ducolax. Something similar to the colonoscopy prep.I don't care if I have to run to the bathroom every 10 minutes. All I need is to GO!

The prep that works for me is a combination of Ducolax tablets & Miralax powder.

Take 2 tablets 2 hours before mixing the 238mg bottle of Miralax in a 64 oz bottle of Gatorade. Drink 8 oz every 15 minutes.

Good Luck........

OP: Are you looking for a prep mixture or for general constipation help.

Constipation, and I'm looking for something fierce and highly effective.

MoviPrep was prescribed for me. I still have half of the MoviPrep packets. I vomited up the first liter and had to cancel the colonoscopy.

I was going to throw the MP packets out but now you've given me a reason to keep them.

I do a 10 day detox twice a year. On the detox it is necessary to take Mag07 at night. That stuff is wicked and has no manners, lol. It is costly but you can also try taking magnesium. I'm not sure of the dose though. You would need to research that.

eBay is cheaper but that link will give you more info.

A short detox would clean you out

Laxatives are not supposed to be used frequently. Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but it sounds like you use them (and like them) too much. That could be why they aren't working for you now. They become less effective with frequent use. The bowels quickly grow dependent on the artificial stimulants.

Bowel issues are terrible to deal with. People who don't have bowel problems cannot understand how all-consuming the problem really is.

I can't recommend anything except to eat more daily fiber, drink more water, to be sure you're being honest with your doctor about your laxative usage. Fiber One bars are delicious and come in both 5 gram and 9 gram bars. They also make fiber-packed brownies. Store brands are plentiful too at a cheaper price. Also, PowerAde Zero is a zero calorie drink. I find it much easier to drink a bottle of that than to drink an equal-size bottle of plain water.
