I didn't look into it yet. I'll mention it to my gyno next time. I'm actually considering in about 5 years getting my tubes tight.

Cool. The copper IUD is good for 10 years. I had it put in when my daughter was about 18 months and I love it. No worries anymore!

Does anyone depend on the menstrual cycles, i used to depend on it but that was with my ex girlfriend. My current one has different cycle and it may be shorter and ovulation may occur earlier. Her periods only last for 3 to 4 days, we took the risk once and she ended up taking morning after pill, it was a scary moment i thought she had conceived and so did she.

i heard ovulation last for 48 hours is that true and the sperm may live for up to 3 days but some have been known to survive a week in a woman's womb .

Actually its the sperm that causes pregnancy.
Contraception is suspose to prevent pregnancy. The best thing is for your gf to discuss what is best for her with her dr.

We have always used the pull out method, as I don't want to subject my body to anything and we both don't like condoms. I kept track of my fertile days too, so we were more careful around those times. The only times I got prego was when he DIDN'T pull out and it was on a fertile day. FYI, doctors will not give IUD's to women who have not had children yet, because it is more difficult and painful to insert.

Are you serious? All my IUDs used to be inserted overseas, but I've been thinking of getting one again, here. So what if I don't have children...? I've no plans to have children, either.

Inserting them is painful, though, particularly the first one. I was in agonizing pain for at least 4 hours and was thinking of going back and having it taken out. Went to a friend's house 'cause my Mom didn't know about it. Then it settles, though, and you have peace of mind for years! It's totally worth it! The Copper T that is - I'm not gonna mess with hormones.
