The Devils continue their progression; I believe that they are 13-1-2 in the last 16 games..playoffs still a long shot, but at least the team's overall outlook has brightened considerably, and now maybe they have a chance to resign Parise to a long-term deal this summer..

Recently saw the Sharks win in Boston; Detroit beat the Bruins in a home-and-home series, which was followed by a Leafs win over the B's, which is giving the locals some cause for concern..

All my best to Joel Quennville, both for his health and that of the Blackhawks, who have been uninspired for much of this season...

Well tonight's Rod Brind'Amour night. Been waiting since the announcement was made that his jersey would be retired against his old team. Now it's here, and Carolina needs the points. Go Canes Go!

Sure is. The Helesinki trip, the ASG, Brindy's retirement, Skinner a favorite for the Calder, AHL club in Charlotte.........

If only we can still hold on to a playoff spot.........

What do you know about Derek Joslin if anything?, we picked him up from the Sharks for Ian White and a draft pick.

Young guy that needs minutes - but doesn't really do anything remarkeable enough at this point to earn them .... at least not on the team that SJ thinks they have/are building

He's good enough where keeping him in the AHL is a waste .... nothing more he can really gain down there .... he's overall fairly solid, but doesn't have a great shot, doesn't move the puck really well and isn't a complete shut down defenseman

that doesn't make him bad though

he's a fairly smart player, hardworking, willing to sacrifice and do whatever the team asks and could continue to develop with more minutes and experience against NHL talent ..... fairly smart about when to jump into the play, doesn't really get lost out there much

the issue he had in SJ is that he didn't bring something to a role better than any of the other D options

With White they are looking for a guy who can hold the right point on the PP and help move the puck in general when facing teams that start playing tight (sharks can have issues breaking pressure, clearing the zone, etc) ........ right now they have Pavelski on the right point on the PP, this will give them more flexibility

They have a young guy they called up from the AHL .... he has some offensive flair and looks to be a good talent ... but was still losing his assignment & making errors .... he has worked on it and the sharks are comfortable bringing him up now

those 2 moves really just squeezed Joslin out of a spot

He could be a nice D-man, slotted #4-#6 on many teams .... he just didn't have that little extra skill set to specialize and grab a permanent spot in SJ

What I learned in today's Pittsburgh/Chicago shootout

1. Toews/Sharp/Kane > Dupuis/Letang/Kennedy
2. Crosby/Malkin/Staal > Dupuis/Letang/Kennedy

Get healthy soon, Penguins.

Flyers played a whole game without a penalty today. Against the Rangers, of all teams.

Flyers TV announcer: Bobrovsky has left the net; the Flyers bring on an extra attacker for the last two minutes of the game
Me: Oh, right. That never works.
Flyers TV announcer: He scores!
Me: Oh, cool ...

They lost in overtime anyway. *sigh*

The 'yotes are on fire right now .... SJ is also on fire and chasing them closely

I think they play 3 more times this year

Should be a great finish to the regular season and leading into the playoffs
