There are so many good ideas on this thread!

My personal favorite is the second picture, with the yellow that Jamiecita posted a close second. They all look great. I never realized grey went with so many colors.

Hope the final results will be shared, as I would have a tough time choosing.

Maybe it's just me, but I think of them as something people do when they are afraid to commit.

afraid to commit to what? The entire room being the accent wall color? I don't think that makes sense. It's not that I am afraid to commit to the color in the one or two rooms I have done accent walls over the years, rather I chose a color I wouldn't want the whole room in because it would be too bright or too overbearing but I liked it in a small dose.

You are talking my language. I am looking for a coffee table like that, only square.

OK, I guess IT IS just me. I would go with a blue, or perhaps a citron/pear color.

If you only want to paint, blue looks super with gray.
Wallpapering the accent wall would look really great if done with a high quality wallpaper. There are many gorgeous, beautiful designs out there.
(I'm NOT talking about the crap they sell at Menard's, Home Depot, etc.)

You said you bought the spread...but are all the accessories on your bed grey, as in this photo. I find the bed as it is in the photo - skirt, sheets, pillows - to be absolutely, totally and dreadfully sepulchral! The Raft of the Medusa waiting for the corpses to board.

I cannot imagine any color scheme rescuing a bed made up totally in dead greys. So, I would think of sheeting in single colors that would bring some subtle life to this bed itself. (I mean alternating sheet sets of totally one color with those totally in another; both suitable to go with the grey. Then use these colors or variations of them as the wall, carpeting colours.

The thing is the OP wants an accent wall.
