It was and the guy said it was fine. I think the roof is 15 years old... how often do homes usually need roofs replaced?


Also, ours is a flat roof... are they more prone to leakage than standard slanted roofs?

Yes, flat roofs are more prone to leakage than standard slanted roofs, especially if they are improperly installed or the wrong material is used. What kind of flat roof do you have?

Flat roofs are notorious for leaking. Anything with a pitch less than 4 over 12 is asking for trouble and requires expert engineering. Even rain blowing in from the side can lead to a leak.
