Is this a family friendly neighborhood? It is pretty close to the inner loop and seems to have nice homes. What can you tell me about the neighborhood, safety, schools, etc... Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schools are typical inner-city schools. Not the greatest, but if you have a smart kid then you shouldn't have problems. It is not going to be as statistically safe as suburbs, but I ride my bike there in the late night hours past midnight all the time and I have never come across any problems...just the odd crazy guy here and there wandering around.

If you're looking for something like a suburb then Timbergrove is not it.

Is Oak Forest more family friendly? It seems a little further out though.

The area just keeps improving...property values will only increase imo. Watch out for homes that have flooded. I know parts of Timbergrove had flood issues in past.

Garden Oaks and Lazybrook is another good recommendation.

Timbergrove is a good neighborhood. Nice homes that keep their value. I know there is an active mother's group and a good baseball program in the neighborhood. Sinclair Elem. seems to be pretty good too.

Parts of Oak Forest also flooded. Stay on the east side of TC Jester - the west side looks like a totally differnt subdivision and does not appreciate as well. Oak Forest is very family-friendly, made up of young professionals and retirees that get along great and watch out for each other. It is not that far north of Timbergrove. Lazybrook also is good - both Timbergrove and Lazybrook are more expensive than Oak Forest just because they are a tiny bit south of it.

The problem with Garden Oaks is that .075% fee payable to the HOA by the buyer whenever a property sells. It is hurting sales, because a buyer can go a few blocks west and not have to pay the rip-off charge.

Is the east side the side that is closer to Durham or is it the other side of TC Jester?
